Welcome to Chemeca 2017 – to be held in the year that marks the centenary of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI). To honour this momentous occasion, Chemeca 2017 will be held as a partner conference to RACI Centenary Conference 2017.The theme for Chemeca 2017 is “INNOVATION THROUGH SCIENCE & ENGINEERING” and celebrates the pivotal role of chemical engineers and industrial chemists in creating new knowledge and translating it into trailblazing technologies that enhance our quality of life.
As one of the largest ever gathering of scientists and engineers to be held in Australia, the RACI Centenary Congress aims to showcase innovative research and technology and to provide inspiration for creating new opportunities to address future challenges. As a platform to promote interdisciplinary thinking that is the core of creativity and innovation, it will facilitate professionals from diverse areas of chemical sciences and engineering to interact, collaborate and deliver innovative solutions for a sustainable world and way of life.
We have assembled a world-class line up of invited speakers to share their high-impact works and interact with the delegates. Young researchers and students – our future leaders – are provided opportunities to showcase their research and be inspired to innovate. The Chemical Engineering Awards of Excellence dinner will be a highlight of Chemeca 2017 to honour and celebrate the exceptional people who contribute to chemical engineering and industrial chemistry.
Being the 2017 Chemeca Chair, I took the initiative to develop a first-time innovative event: the Academic Sharp Brain. I decided to organise this event in a unique way to showcase innovative research and technology, and to provide inspiration to our emerging professionals as future innovators who fit into the nation’s core values. The Academic Sharp Brain is a platform, to not only realize the potential of intelligent minds but to also brighten the future of our professions by bringing innovative ideas to marketplace. The Academic Sharp Brain provides Chemeca participants with the opportunity to pitch their innovative scientific- and engineering-based ideas to the invited experts and potential investors and to attract support and resources to develop business opportunities.
Chemeca 2017, Academic Sharp Brain and the RACI Congress will be held in spectacular Melbourne, Australia – considered to be Australia’s most liveable city, at a world-class venue by the scenic Yarra River – the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre - which is recognised as one of Australasia’s leading meetings and conference venues.
I invite you to come to Melbourne in July 2017 to join colleagues from around the world to be inspired and celebrate the 100 years of RACI. The Congress promises to be an exciting opportunity to exchange ideas, experiences and insights.
Be a part of Chemeca 2017 and contribute to delivering innovative solutions for a sustainable future!!
I look forward to seeing you in Melbourne.
